Glamourpuss has posted an excellent guide to finding good pole dancing lessons – and a few other things you should look out for as well.
Things to Check out Before You Sign up and Part With Your Cash
Pole dancing classes tend to be taught either by ex-club dancers or fitness instructors, and to be honest, I’ve seen some pretty shocking practice from both. Fitness qualifications do not necessarily denote a good teacher, but do check the format of the class – there should be a warm-up, lots of structured pole activity and a cool-down or stretches to end. […]What to expect
We all feel a bit silly and embarrassed when we start, and we all wonder how the instructor can make it all look so effortless. In the course of your pole lessons, you will experience pain, laughter, the kind of bonding that only happens between women who stare at each other’s crotches week after week, and an exhilarating sense of achievement when you nail a new move.

Ooh loved Glamourpusses article!
Yes, it’s great isn’t it? If you haven’t already, make sure you check out some of her other posts too, or subscribe to her blog. I have :)
I have been wanting to learn pole dancing for some time, and wondered if you were aware of any classes in the wiltshire area.
Tracey – I don’t personally know of any, but a quick Google search found Foxies. Unfortunately the site’s down at the moment, but the Pole Dance Directory is certainly worth checking too.
I asked on the Body & Pole forum and Kat said that she teaches in Ciren, near Swindon – she was the driving force behind the pole dancing calendar and I’d definitely check her out if that’s convenient for you. Apparently the college used to teach too, though may not any more.
Hope that helps.
